In the forest things are moving together, growing together, in and around each other.
Each step pushes one movement into another.
Like a trigger for movement, or perhaps a proposition set in motion.
tracing movements #1:
Walked around to get the sensing of the movements of the sticks, grass, moss,
rocks, trees, wind, light, pressure, and balance.
Wove the flagging tape through where the movements triggered the next.
tracing movements #2 and #3:
Today I set out to document the movements where I walk often.
tracing movements #2:
Site #2 is an angled base of a hill that I enjoy walking up slowly. I gathered some
sticks from the forest, carefully laid them out as an assemblage on the grass.
Quickly the grass enclosed around some of the sticks. When I walked over that
path, the sticks cracked, the grass moved, and together the site infused itself
with the movements I had proposed. The movements continued, and then, using
the flagging tape, I traced them along the path.

tracing movements #3:
Site #3 is the main forest path leading away from the Arteles property. Every day
people walk on it, leading up the hill into the surrounding pine and birch forest.
I sketched out the field of movement, after walking with/in the site several times.
Then, using the flagging tape, I assembled it to highlight the path and the
movements that I could discern.
